When the earth was still flat
지구가 아직 평평하던 때엔
And clouds made of fire
화염으로 이루어진 구름이 떠다니고

OTT가 넘쳐나는 시대임에도 의외로 영화 <헤드윅>을 볼 수 있는 채널이없더라구요. 우리나라 뮤지컬 넘버 가사도 좋지만, 묘하게 아쉬운 부분들이 있었어서 영어 가사를 다시 한 번 곱씹어 보았습니다. 신화를 빌려온 사랑의 기원에 대한 이야기는 영화에서는 애니메이션과 함께 흘러나오는데, 태양의, 달의 , 지구의 아이들이 갈라지는 장면이 심플한 그림체로 표현됩니다. 헤드윅의 절규와 함께 보아서 그런지 마음도 많이 아프고 충격적이었던 기억이 있습니다.
2001년도 영화이니 20년도 더 된 영화인데 그 때 시절 상황을 생각하면, 트랜스젠더, 드랙퀸이 주인공인 영화는 내용을 감히 공감할 수도 없이 이질감이 느껴졌는데도 저 노래를 통해 헤드윅에 공감했던 것 같아요. 너와 나의 고통이 같다는 것.
다시 볼 수 있는 채널이 생겼으면 좋겠습니다.
